Blogging for Your Business

By Paul Ascough

Pro blogging is a very recent idea with a great deal of potential for enterprising individuals who have insight, drive, and an elementary understanding of today's innovative internet technology. There are not numerous individuals able to make a living simply by blogging, and the social ranks of these so-called pro bloggers are relatively small as well. Yet, every day there are more and more individuals who have managed to turn their weblogs into cash cows that supplement their income. The amount of people who are pro bloggers is rising all the time, but there's no way to tell whether these numbers will continue to increase over time.

Pro blogging appeals to numerous authors of varying levels of talent who would like recognition for their work. Most individuals who spend an hour or more each day on their weblog their weblog hope to earn some kind of compensation for their hard work. Earning money with your blog can be done with several business patterns, the most popular of which is done using Google AdSense or selling ad space to a firm that targets the demographic market of your readers. There are some that can make a nice living just by selling space on their individual weblog sidebars.

Because authors are invariably interested in who other authors are using their same medium, it should not be surprising that the bulk of weblogs readers are often bloggers themselves. Individuals who have succeeded in the world of professional blogging have only done so because of their ambition to learning, talking, and writing about blogging. Professional bloggers center on the dynamics of the blogoshpere itself. A lot of pro bloggers make the subject of blogging the stunningly self-reflective ongoing center of their blogs.

Of course, professional blogging is destined to become much more complicated in the future than it is today as with any project management issue. In today's web climate, professional bloggers that bring in the most readers and make money from this are mostly concerned with analyzing and capitalizing on the blogging environment itself while offering advice to amateur bloggers. Blogging demographics are proposed to change rapidly as the software becomes more user friendly. It is very likely that the world of professional blogging will start to reflect these changes. It's truly tough to guess what types of blogs will gain the most visitors and revenue a decade from now. The world of pro blogging is one of endless change and flux, which is part of what makes it so exciting.

Free Email Spam Filters

By Amanda Somrekli

Your email address, however, is a different matter. Its astonishing to see how many small businesses try to save money by going with a free email account with aol, hotmail or similar.

One website that is good to check out periodically is The Rip Off Report. It is a website where consumers voice their complaints about all sorts of things including paid surveys. It is certainly a good resource to check out if you're having doubts about an online survey opportunity.

It is best for you to do your own research and come to your own conclusion. You'll notice that certain programs appear questionable for a reason and you'll also find the good companies that offer legitimate free email surveys to you.

Every time we access our mail box, it is flooded with mails which are completely unsolicited. These spam mails are not only annoying, they can even contain dangerous viruses. To counter the spam, email spam filters are extensively used.

Email is broadly categorized into Web-based email like Yahoo, Hotmail and Rediffmail, and client-based email like Outlook Express or Eudora. Both types of emails have different setups and require unique spam filters to effectively block spam.

Web based emails usually have free spam filters. These filters may be content-based or work on the basis of a pre-provided blacklist of spammers. Spam filters for client-based email are generally of three types: server side filters, standalone filters, and integrated filters.

The best part of using the free email account is that it has a wonderful anti spam feature that really weeds out unwanted spam from your mailbox and even alerts you of any such spam or virus in mail. A special junk folder is used by the service provider where all such spam messages are trashed.

Choosing the best free email server available on the internet for you is not an easy task. However, by following these tips and doing careful research, you can find the free internet service that is best for you so that you have access to your communications from anywhere anytime you like.

Some even offer as much as 10GB of available mail space. Other types of mail servers also support pop-up blockers, fast uploading of files, anti-virus protection, and a firewall, not to mention message filtering and additional tools for effectively managing your accounts.

Your phone number is a relatively simple thing to deal with. As long as you make sure that your phone is answered in a professional manner during business hours, nobody will know if youre sitting in a prestigious corner office or at your kitchen table as you talk to them. Just keep any children or pets out of range.

Important Characteristics Of Website Design

By Bruce Willis

Optimal performance is the number one priority in any website design. The existence of large, slow loading flash files on some website shows that some webmaster do not require the basic understanding if what constitutes an optimally designed website.

Here are five important website design rules of thumb to observe which should ensure your website performs well.

1) Splash pages should be left out when optimal performance is a priority. The splash pages are the fancy pages you see when you enter a website. These pages use elaborate designs created with the purpose to entertain the visitor with fancy animations, brilliant photos and include welcoming words such as "hello" "welcome" or "click here to enter our website". The unfortunate thing is splash pages actually takes away attention from the real purpose of the website, and often frustrates users with their slow loading time. The slow loading time often gives extra incentive for visitors to click on the back button in frustration.

2) Overuse of banners is counterproductive. The most common place for these large advertising banners to be placed is close to the page header but the bottom of the page is also quite popular too. Even the newbie to the internet have trained themselves to ignore banner ads so placing them would only waste precious real estate space. A better solution would be to add useful web contents and weave affiliate links artfully into them.

3) All navigational systems should be easy. Navigation should be made very simple so that even a young child can understand. Do not use any form of menus that will complicate users, drop downs and multi-tiers are not a good idea. Any form of complicated navigation will cause them to leave your site for good. It is good in any website design to include a sitemap to help them find what they are looking for.

4) Have a clear indication of where the user is. When you have successfully captured their attention and enjoying the whole experience perusing your website, you will want to make them know where they are at the moment without feeling lost. This map will help them get to where they want to be without wasting too much time. Ensure every page of your website has its title and a tracking system is used to allow visitors to see where they have been and where they are. If you confuse your visitors in any way they will leave.

5) Make it a point to avoid using audio. If you want your visitors to stay a long time and read the contents, do not irritate em with your audio. If sound is used, do not let it play over and over again. Using audios may not always be a good idea, if you have to include them be sure to allow for some form of user control such as volume or muting ability. If you use all these tricks of website design effectively, you will in time that your visitors will likely return again and again to your site.

How To Select The Right Web Company

By Brian T. Arnold

Many of the old websites are being replaced by faster loading, better looking web pages. As technology continues to rapidly grow, web designers have adapted to the changes and increased their skill set. The days of simple HTML pages have been replaced with modern web standards and the widespread use of CSS.

If that all of that sounds confusing, don't worry. Purchasing a new website without learning all the jargon and confusing acronyms is achievable. Just make sure that your web designer avoids using excessive technical jargon and speaks to you in terms that make sense.

After all, your auto mechanic doesn't expect you to talk shop when discussing your car that is in his repair shop. You just tell him whats going wrong, and breaks out his tools and fixes it. So, if you are buying a new website, simply tell the designer or project manager your needs, then wait for their response.

Here are a few tips to consider before you begin the process. You should first determine the goals of your website. Do plan you sell online? Do you know who your target audience is? Some simple research on your industry using your favorite search engine will show you some of these points to consider.

Closely examine your competitors websites. This helps in creating your website goal plan and can help spawn ideas. Should you offer people an email newsletter? Do you have a white paper that explains service offerings that you can give away for free? Will using video to educate potential customers be part of your plan?

Using a word processing document to answer these questions in advance will help you determine your goals. You can also use a pen and paper, whatever you are comfortable with the most will work. You don't need to know web programming or design to get your business up and running. What you do need to know is the needs of your company and what your web visitors truly want.

Knowing these things before you commiting to a contract for web design is crucial. If you are still unsure, doing some research should help make things understandable and much more clear. After all, nobody knows your business better than you do. What do you do better than your competitors? Is there something truly unique about your business that poeple should know about?

Try to find a service provider that understands your goals and matches your personality. Don't fall prey to pushy sales tactics. Know exactly what you want and find out what the going rates are before making a decision. Beware of providers that are too eager and offer extremely low prices. Most often these people and companies are novices that will leave you with more problems than you bargained for.
